![]() Restart Excel and try to open the broken Excel documents. Select Trust Center Settings, and then select Protected View. In the Ribbon, select File > Options > Trust Center. Uncheck all the options under Protected View and confirm by pressing OK. To switch off Protected View, change the settings in the Excel Trust Center. Additionally, Protected View is enabled by default, and files that are located in potentially unsafe locations are opened in Protected View. Select Trust Center and press the Trust center settings button.
